laptop memory: can I use PC2700 DDR sdram SODIMM in a laptiop replacing PC2100?

I have a HP/Compaq nx9010 which currently has 256mb PC2100 DDR sdram but is slow;  I also have 512mb PC2700 from a Seimens/Fujitsu laptop. Can I replace PC2700 for PC2100??

can i use Kingston So-Dimm PC2-5300 1GB DDR2-667 instead of Kingston So-Dimm PC2-4200 1GB DDR2-533 in my Dell D610 laptop?

I have been to crucial.com, mrmemory.co.uk, dell.com and orcalogic.co.uk.
Crucial says I need 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-5300
mrmemory  says I need a 200 Pin SO DIMM DDR2 PC2-4200 533MHz
Dell says I need DDR2 200-PIN SODIMM, SDRAM-DDR2 800 MHz
orcalogic says I need DDR2 533MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM
