Computer Build – Components?
Hi i am about to start the build of a computer. Below show the choices i have made for the build. Could you say if you would change anything to make it better? The PC i will build is to be a gaming PC which will last for a good few years (hence the choice of graphics card) I am slightly unsure of the power i have gone for 850W but not sure if this is enough?. Thanks
Processor
1 x Intel Core i5 (750) 2.66GHz Processor 8192KB L3…
Motherboard
1 x Gigabyte P55-UD4 1156 ATX
Memory
1 x OCZ Platinum 4Go DDR3 PC14900 CAS9 Dual Channel
Chassis
1 x Nine Hundred/Ultimate Gamer Case- no PSU – 3×12
Power Supply
1 x Corsair HX 850W Power Supply
Hard Disk
1 x CAVIAR GP 1TB INT RTL KIT 3.5IN SATA 3GB/S
Graphics Card
1 x Sapphire Technology ATI Radeon 5870 HD 1GB DDR5 PCI-Express DVI
This comes to just over £800 – also any reccomendations of a HD Monitor?
Thanks Again
With the second most powerful gaming graphics card on the planet right now (first is ATI HD 5970, nVidia GTX 295 isn’t as powerful as 5870), you could go up to a 30″ monitor with 2560 x 1600 and still get good performance in games! But to be realistic, I would recommend a 24-26″ monitor with 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200 resolution from a brand like Samsung, ASUS, or LG (or any model with highly-rated reviews.
But I would agree to go with an Intel Core i7 920, X58 motherboard, and 6 GB of Triple-channel DDR3 RAM. Also look into a hard drive that isn’t “Caviar GP”, as those are lower performing ones in general, even if they do cut down on energy.
The Antec 900 case is a well known, popular, and solidly designed case, as is the Antec 1200. But CoolerMaster is good, too. I have a cheap 310 Elite, and it still feels fairly sturdy and durable (save for a glossy front).
After that you should be good to go on your build.
