How can I make my computer recognise new RAM?
I tried to install the following into my old desktop computer:
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3274837/Kingston-KVR133X64C3-256-Valueram-Computer-Memory-256MB-PC133-SD-RAM-32×8-168-Pin-Dimm/Product.html
I expected to be able to just put the RAM chip in and that my computer would recognise that RAM, instead I had a black screen come up and windows would not load. I was told that this RAM would work in my computer and I’m really confused because I’ve not had to factory restore my computer back to the beginning because it corrupted some files when I put this chip in. My desktop computer is an old machine, but it’s still handy and hence my wanting to upgrade it.
Here are the specifications if that helps,
Packard Bell iMedia 5067
256MB RAM
128MB ATI Radeon 9600 Graphics
Thanks a lot.
Id take it back and exchange it for some Corsair. If you read the reviews of the ram you bought here you will see that some people are getting high-density ram instead of what they ordered.

Appears to be packaged wrong at Kingston. Intel boards can not run high-density ram. If all the ram chips are on one side of the stick then its high-density. Should have chips on both sides. I’d check the label on the stick and see if its exactly the same as on the package it came in. Also appears to be a lot of compatibilty issues even when they get the right ram.
