Can I put DDR2 RAM into a laptop with DDR?

I have a DDR2 laptop (http://www.notebookreview.com/price/product.asp?pid=18873&productFamilyID=1022) and have recently upgraded my RAM. So I have these two spare 1GB RAM with DDR2 technology. I would like to give them to a friend of mine with a slightly older laptop which is running with DDR (http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/acer-aspire-3000/4507-3121_7-31532504.html?tag=mncol;rnav). Does anyone know if these are compatible, or better, if I can put DDR2 RAM into an older computer built for DDR? Do you think it will work? Isn’t just the insertion itself gonna fry his computer dead?

No, it will not fit. However, you can go here: http://www.crucial.com/ and scan your system and it will tell you what kind of RAM to put in AND how much more RAM your system can upgrade to.
