Screen goes black playing games and computer freezes up?
I have had this problem with a couple of different games and I am wondering if anyone has any ideas about what could be the problem. I know it is not a problem with the monitor, I have done plenty of testing there and the screen is still “displaying” so it is a problem with the computer.
I have a Radeon x1900xtx Video Card, AMD Phenom 9750 Quad-Core, XP Professional, 4GB RAM
I know the system isn’t overheating because I have run a temperature gauge on the system and when I have had the game crash the core temperature isn’t any higher than 45 degrees Celsius. The only thing I can think of is that it is something with the video card, though it ran some impressive benchmarks so it doesn’t seem to be the card either.
The two games I have had this happen on are Assassin’s Creed and Dungeons and Dragons Online. Both were being played full screen on a dual-monitor setup.

Try reinstalling the graphics card and updating drivers if that doesn’t work switch to a ATI 4000 series card much better than the one you have right now,
